Edit Images

Images should be resized before they are loaded to the site. Posters and png images are often very large files (1 mb+). Large files are slow to load and eat up data if the user is not on wi-fi.

  • recommended image sizes:
    • post featured image should be a square image for consistency. Recommended dimension 400px x 400px
    • images used within the content area can be any dimension with a maximum width of 1000px
  • where to edit images:
    • Canva.com
      • download images as jpg rather than the default png (png files are much larger)
      • if creating a square thumbnail image from a poster, select custom size of 400px x 400px, upload the poster, drag the poster into the square and position it in way that looks good. Download as a jpg.
    • Online tool – https://ezgif.com/resize/
      • upload image/poster
      • click crop icon to crop image as desired
      • if you only want to resize (not crop) the image, you can set the width dimension to 1000 px.
